                           INTRODUCTION TO UNIX

                                 Editors

There are several editors available on Unix systems, including:

vi, emacs, and pico which are full-screen editors; ed and ex

       are line-oriented editors.

All versions of Unix come with vi, ex, and ed, and recently emacs
has become a popular editor among Unix users and is being included
in many Unix releases. It is advisable to become familiar with,
if not restrict your use of an editor, to vi, as pico and even
emacs may not be available on any particular system.
